It can also occur in areas with predominant oil glands (sebaceous) where redness, itchy scaly lesions are seen known as seborrheic dermatitis.
Dandruff occurs due to the overgrowth of the yeast called malassezia on scalp and is known as pityriasis capitis.
What is the treatment provided?
An over the counter available ketoconazole shampoo (antifungal) works great when used twice a week over the scalp as a leave in shampoo for 5-7 minutes.

Dandruff treatment:
Assessment of the scalp using a trichoscope is done and the treatment is decided based on the inflammation and dandruff.
An energy based device is used in which an anti dandruff solution is added and infused over your scalp which is followed by a thorough massage to increase the blood flow and hair wash is done with the anti fungal shampoo.
