Understanding Hydrafacial and Oxygenofacial
HydraFacial is a medical-grade, non-invasive skin treatment that uses patented Vortex-Fusion technology to simultaneously cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and deeply hydrate the skin. It is not a traditional facial. The device uses a spiral-tip handpiece that creates a gentle vortex action working like a precision vacuum and infusion system combined — to remove impurities from the pores while simultaneously delivering nourishing serums directly into the skin. The result is a treatment that addresses multiple skin concerns in a single, comfortable session with no downtime and no recovery period.
The serums used are formulated with active ingredients and can be customised depending on your skin’s needs. This level of personalisation, combined with the consistency and control of a device-based treatment, is what sets HydraFacial apart from conventional facials. It has been studied in clinical settings and has demonstrated measurable improvements in skin clarity, hydration, and texture across a wide range of skin types, including Fitzpatrick types II through V, which covers most Indian skin tones.
WHO IT SUITS
Is This Right for You?
HydraFacial is well-tolerated across virtually all skin types and tones, including sensitive skin. You may be a good candidate if you are dealing with:
Dull, dehydrated skin or an uneven skin tone,Oily or acne-prone skin. Mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Early signs of ageing, including fine lines and loss of radiance. Sun damage or hyperpigmentation. Rough skin texture or enlarged pores.A desire for skin that looks refreshed before an event or occasion.
HydraFacial is also an excellent option for those who want to begin a professional skincare journey without committing to more intensive procedures. It serves as a strong standalone treatment and pairs well with other dermatological interventions.
A few situations where we would advise pausing or modifying treatment: Active, inflamed acne cysts or open skin lesions A recent ablative laser procedure or deep chemical peel on the same areaActive rash, infection, or skin allergy in the treatment zone.Pregnancy, where certain boosters and active serums require review. If any of these apply to you, please discuss with your dermatologist before scheduling.
OUR APPROACH
How We Treat at ZARS
At ZARS, every HydraFacial begins with a proper skin assessment. We do not treat all skin the same way. Our team evaluates your concerns, current skin condition, and any ongoing treatments or medications before selecting the appropriate serum combination and add-ons for your session.
The HydraFacial at ZARS is performed using a medical-grade device and is supervised by qualified dermatologists. The treatment is customised based on your specific concern.
We also decide whether to combine your HydraFacial session with complementary treatments such as LED therapy or a targeted skin booster, based on what your skin requires that day. No two sessions need to be identical.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your Treatment Journey
BEFORE
No significant preparation is required. We ask that you avoid waxing, strong active ingredients (retinoids, high-concentration acids), or any form of skin resurfacing in the 48 to 72 hours before your session. Come in with a clean, makeup-free face if possible, or we can cleanse you on arrival. Please disclose any medications, skin conditions, or recent procedures.
DURING
The treatment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, though sessions with add-ons may extend to 60 minutes. You will feel a gentle gliding and suctioning sensation as the device moves across your skin. Most patients find this comfortable and even relaxing. There is no discomfort comparable to manual extractions. The device exfoliates the skin surface, applies a light glycolic and salicylic acid blend to loosen debris, vacuums out pore contents, and then infuses the chosen serum — all in one fluid sequence. You may feel a mild warmth or tingle during the peel step, which resolves quickly.
AFTER
Results are immediately visible. Most patients describe a noticeable glow, smoother texture, and a feeling of deep cleanliness right after the session. Skin is typically not red or irritated. You can return to work, apply makeup, and go about your day without any downtime. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the skin may continue to improve as the infused serums settle in. Your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage temporarily, so SPF is non-negotiable for at least a week following treatment. Avoid heat, steam, strong actives, and facial scrubs for 48 hours post-session.
RESULTS
What You Can Achieve
Results from individual sessions typically last one to two weeks in terms of visible radiance. With consistent monthly sessions, skin quality improves cumulatively and the effects become more sustained over time.
OXYGEN FACIAL (OXYGENEO)
The OxyGeneo facial is a next-generation, non-invasive treatment that works through a principle called the Bohr Effect.
Overview
Understanding OXYGEN FACIAL (OXYGENEO)
The OxyGeneo facial is a next-generation, non-invasive treatment that works through a principle called the Bohr Effect. This is a naturally occurring physiological response in the body to oxygenate the skin from the inside out. Unlike conventional oxygen facials that spray pressurised oxygen onto the skin’s surface, the OxyGeneo approach is fundamentally different and scientifically more logical.
The treatment uses specialised capsules (called OxyPods) that interact with a treatment gel on the skin’s surface to generate CO2 bubbles. This rise in local CO2 triggers the Bohr Effect: the body detects the elevated CO2 at the skin surface and responds by sending oxygen-rich blood to that area to replace it. The result is an increase in circulation and internal oxygenation, driven by the body itself rather than by an external source. Simultaneously, the treatment gently exfoliates the skin and infuses active ingredients, making it a true three-in-one procedure: Exfoliate. Oxygenate. Infuse.
WHO IT SUITS
Is This Right for You?
The OxyGeneo facial is designed for all skin types and tones, including sensitive, reactive, and ethnic skin. It is particularly well-suited for:
Dull, lacklustre, or fatigued skin. Dehydrated skin that needs a deep nourishment boost. Uneven skin tone or mild hyperpigmentation. Fine lines and early signs of ageing. Skin that is too sensitive for more aggressive exfoliating or resurfacing treatments.Pre-event preparation: the treatment delivers immediate radiance with no downtime, making it ideal before a wedding, shoot, or important occasion. Body skin concerns such as pigmentation and rough texture can be treatedSituations to discuss with your dermatologist before proceeding: Active skin infections, Recent ablative procedures, Severe flare-ups of inflammatory skin disease, Pregnancy (certain infusion ingredients require review), Known allergies to any cosmetic ingredient.
OUR APPROACH
How We Treat at ZARS
At ZARS, we perform OxyGeneo as a customised, dermatologist-directed treatment. The infusion component is tailored to your skin’s specific needs.
We assess your skin before each session and select the appropriate infusion gel accordingly. At ZARS, the OxyGeneo may also be combined with additional modalities where clinically appropriate such as LED light therapy. This is decided on a case-by-case basis after reviewing your skin.
We may recommend alternating HydraFacial and OxyGeneo treatments across a planned course.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your Treatment Journey
BEFORE
Avoid retinoids and chemical exfoliants for at least 48 hours before your session. Inform us of any active skin conditions, medications, or recent procedures. No other special preparation is needed. Arrive without heavy makeup if possible, or allow time for cleansing on arrival.
DURING
A session typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes. The experience is genuinely comfortable most patients describe it as feeling like a warm, gentle massage on the face. There is no vacuum suction like in the HydraFacial; instead, the capsule glides smoothly across the skin. During the exfoliation phase, you may notice light effervescence or bubbling as the CO2 is generated. Some patients with sensitive skin notice a mild tingling in the first few minutes, which fades quickly. Many patients report feeling so relaxed during the treatment that they fall asleep. The procedure involves no needles, no injections, and no pain. The skin is worked on while it is still hydrated (wet exfoliation), which is intrinsically gentler than dry exfoliation methods.
AFTER
Immediately following the session, skin looks visibly brighter, smoother, and more hydrated. Pores appear refined, and the complexion has a healthy luminosity. In most cases, there is no redness, peeling, or recovery period. Many patients note that results look even better 24 to 48 hours after the treatment as the infused ingredients continue to work within the skin. Apply SPF diligently for the week following treatment. Avoid heavy exfoliating products and steam for 48 hours post-session.
RESULTS
What You Can Achieve
Results from a single OxyGeneo session are immediately apparent and tend to improve further over the following couple of days. The treatment benefits are cumulative. The more consistently it is done, the more sustained and progressive the improvements become. Individual session results typically last 4 to 6 weeks, and with consistent treatment, some patients maintain results for up to 3 months.
01
HydraFacial
Both treatments are non-invasive, require no downtime, and are safe for Indian skin tones. The key distinction is in their mechanism. HydraFacial excels at deep pore extraction and active serum infusion. It is the stronger choice when congestion, acne, blackheads, and surface texture are the primary concerns. OxyGeneo works differently by stimulating the skin’s own circulatory and oxygenation response, making it the more restorative and rejuvenating of the two. It is better suited when the goal is radiance, anti-ageing, dehydration, and sensitive or reactive skin.
02
OxyGeneo
At ZARS, both are available as standalone treatments or as part of a planned skin improvement programme. Your dermatologist will help you decide which is best suited for your current skin condition, your goals, and whether combining the two across a course of treatments would benefit you. Both are excellent entry points into professional skincare and can be continued safely as long-term maintenance treatments.
