PDRN
PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a purified DNA fragment derived from salmon, with roots in wound healing and tissue repair.
Overview
Understanding PDRN
In aesthetic medicine, it activates the skin’s own repair pathways stimulating collagen, improving circulation, and calming inflammation at a cellular level. At ZARS, we use PDRN across a range of concerns: skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing, dark circles, hair loss, and post-procedure recovery. It works gradually and biologically, without altering structure or expression restoring what time and damage have taken, from within.

OUR APPROACH
How We Treat at ZARS
Every PDRN treatment at ZARS begins with a proper assessment of the skin, the scalp, or the post-procedure healing trajectory, depending on the concern. PDRN is delivered via mesotherapy: fine injections placed precisely into the target tissue, whether that’s the mid-dermis of the face, the delicate under-eye area, or the scalp.
The depth, distribution, and frequency are tailored to you. Depending on your goals, PDRN may be used as a standalone treatment or combined with microneedling, PRP, exosomes, laser, or peels, always as part of a considered, personalised plan.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your Treatment Journey
BEFORE
Arrive with clean skin or a clean scalp, free of makeup or product. Topical anaesthetic is applied 20–30 minutes before the procedure begins.
DURING
Sessions typically take 30–45 minutes. Most patients experience a mild prickling or pressure sensation well tolerated with the anaesthetic in place.
AFTER
Small injection marks and mild redness are normal for 24–48 hours. The under-eye area may bruise more than other zones, and the scalp may feel tender briefly. Avoid sun exposure, heavy exercise, and active skincare for 48 hours. Results build gradually improved hydration and glow appear early, while collagen remodelling, hair density, and deeper structural changes develop over weeks to months.
RESULTS
What You Can Achieve
The number of sessions depends on the concern being treated. For skin rejuvenation, 3-4 sessions spaced 2–3 weeks apart is a standard course. Dark circles typically need 3-5 sessions. Hair loss responds best to 4-6 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart, with visible density changes at 3–6 months. Post-procedure recovery usually involves 2-3 PDRN sessions integrated into the healing timeline. Across all indications, maintenance every 3–6 months sustains results. PDRN is not a one-time fix. It works best as part of an ongoing skin or scalp health strategy.
FAQS
Common Questions
Is PDRN painful?
Most patients tolerate the procedure well. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand, which significantly reduces discomfort. During the session, you may feel a mild prickling or pressure sensation but nothing that typically requires any additional pain relief.
How is PDRN different from PRP?
Both are regenerative treatments that work by stimulating the skin or scalp's repair mechanisms. PRP uses growth factors drawn from your own blood, while PDRN is a ready-to-use purified DNA fragment no blood draw required. They can be used interchangeably or together, depending on your concern and treatment plan.
How soon will I see results?
This depends on what's being treated. Skin hydration and glow often improve within the first week or two. For firming and textural changes, allow 4–6 weeks across the course. Hair density takes the longest with meaningful improvement is usually visible at 3–6 months. PDRN works gradually, and the results tend to look natural precisely because of that.
